A lot is happening in the world of climate change investing:

  • We sent a term sheet to the founders of a successful Australian drip irrigation company looking to expand to the US and offered them $3mm for 20% of their business.
  • Carbon Engineering raised CAD 25 million from the government of Canada in the form of a loan. I have told the company that I would like to be considered if and when the company raises another round of equity funding.
  • I have been asked to become the CFO and co-founder of the Chicago-based microalgae company, BYAS. Juggling strategic (investing) and tactical (management) tasks is challenging, but not impossible. I’m considering the offer.
  • The Circularity 19 conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota gave me the opportunity to speak with many interesting folks involved in projects related to the circular economy.
